W&M WIND ENSEMBLE SILENT FILM SHOWCASE

Led by Richard Marcus of W&M’s Music Department, the W&M Wind Ensemble will perform live orchestration for three silent short films: THE ADVENTURER (1917) and THE IMMIGRANT (1917) starring Charlie Chaplin, and COPS (1922) starring Buster Keaton.
1917, USA, 31 min, Director: Charlie Chaplin
Chaplin plays an escaped convict on the run from prison guards. He falls into favor with a wealthy family after he saves a young lady from drowning, but her suitor does everything he can to have Chaplin apprehended by the police. Starring: Charlie Chaplin, Edna Purviance, and Eric Campbell.

A series of mishaps results in a young man getting chased by a city’s entire police force. Starring: Buster Keaton, Edward F. Cline, and Virginia Fox.
