Ticketing And Passes
All events and screenings require either a ticket or a pass. The theatre will be cleared after each screening.
Tickets for the 2015 Festival are currently on sale at the Kimball Theatre box office and the Sadler Center on the William and Mary campus, weekdays from 11am-3pm. You may also purchase tickets by phone through 1-800-HISTORY.
General admission for most GFF screenings is $1 for all seats. Tickets to select marquee screenings will be $3 for W&M and other students (ID required if over 18) and $5 for general admission. **Tickets to sold-out screenings only guarantee a seat if you are seated 10 minutes before screen time**
For specific event prices, check our full schedule.
Tickets to sold-out screenings only guarantee you a seat if you are in your seat 10 minutes before screen time.
Ten minutes prior to all sold out screenings, we will begin filling empty seats with those waiting on a rush line (see details below). Any ticket or pass holder not in the theater ten minutes prior to screen time must join the back of the rush line (his/her ticket will be honored if there are still seats available once the ticket holder gets to the front of the line).
Rush Line For Sold-Out Shows
When any GFF screening becomes “sold out,” it is still possible to (and very likely that you will) get in to see the film by participating in the rush line system.
Two hours before a sold out screening, a GFF staff member will distribute numbered rush line slips outside of the Kimball Theatre (only one slip per person). Rush line slip holders must then be back at the theater no later than 30 minutes prior to screening time to line up in the order of their numbered slip. Rush line slip holders who arrive at the theater 29 minutes or less prior to screen time must join the back of the rush line.
Ten minutes prior to screen time, remaining empty seats will begin to be released to those on the rush line. Rush line tickets cost the same as regular GFF tickets ($1 for most screenings; $3 for students (w/ ID) & $5 general admission for special marquee screenings), HOWEVER, rush line tickets must be paid for in cash, and exact change is much appreciated.
The GFF sells a limited quantity of Festival Passes in four tiers (see details below). All pass-holders get free admission to all film screenings and are eligible for the W&M GFF “Movie &….” Program.
**A GFF pass only guarantees you a seat to any sold-out shows if you are in your seat 5 minutes before screen time**
Ten minutes prior to all sold out screenings, empty general admission seats will be made available to those waiting on the rush line. Five minutes prior to the screening, additional remaining seats will be made available. Any pass holder not in the theater five minutes prior to screen time must join the back of the rush line (their pass will be honored if there are still seats available if/when they get to the front of the line).
All passes include special “Movie &…” deals and offers with participating restaurants in Merchant’s Square. GFF Fan and Green & Gold Passes allow VIPs to select from a number of special events, including our VIP Cocktail Reception. Passes are available for purchase in a limited quantity at the Kimball Theatre box office and the Sadler Center on the William and Mary Campus, weekdays from 11am-3pm.
