The William & Mary Global Film Festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary with four days of films, special guests, workshops, and receptions from February 23 to 26, 2017.
The festival will feature a diverse program of films and live events showcasing the work of international filmmakers, William & Mary faculty, and emerging student talent from around the globe. The full festival program and the opening of ticket sales will be announced in December.
The fall 2016 initiatives for the W&M Global Film Festival include:
The W&M Youth Filmmaking Institute is a weekend of film production workshops for middle and high school students to create their own movies alongside a W&M film student mentor. The 2016 workshops took place October 21-22, and all student films were screened at the Kimball Theatre on November 6. For more information on this program, visit WM-YFI.com.
The 2017 GFF Student Filmmaking Competition is open to all middle and high school and university students around the globe. A collection of student films will be screened at the 2017 festival, and the top films will be awarded camera packages in partnership with Canon. Submissions are currently being accepted through December 15 via this website.
